Creative Construction with Blueprints - Turn the Corner on Creativity

August 11, 2015

Gently rounded corners are a dynamic way of adding interest and softness to your cards. Creative Construction this month shines a spotlight on those Blueprints sets that feature rounded corner elements. From a single, unexpected corner to a full four-corners; rectangles, and squares; plain and stitched - these sets run the gamut of styles.

For today I decided to go with Blueprints 22 and made a clean card based on a provided sketch. (You can download the Blueprints Sketches HERE.)

My inspiration for this card came from a beautiful sunset scene in a tropical island. I blended Lemon Drop, Orange Fizz, and Persimmon dye inks on a piece of white CS, then cut out a circle panel from it using Blueprints 22. I stamped and white embossed a palm tree from Tiki Party stamp set on Black Licorice CS, and cut it out with the matching die. For the background I stenciled Star Celebration with Limelight dye ink. The patterned papers are from Dots & Stripes Fresh Paper Pack and Neutral Paper Pack.

It's hard to see in the first photo though, I added some shimmer on the circle panel using a Wink of Stella pen.
