Ideas for Perfect Poinsettia - MFT Tips & Tricks

October 11, 2018

It's time for a Tips & Tricks feature over at the MFT blog. Today I'd like to share a few ideas for using the Perfect Poinsettia Die-namics

I know that red poinsettia is the most popular in the winter holiday season. But I like white poinsettias and pink poinsettias, too. While red ones are gorgeous and have a huge impact, white ones look elegant and pink ones are so pretty. Right?

Here I used patterned paper to get a casual look. I also added a little bow and a sequin to the center. These could be a cute accent on a gift wrapping for children.

For the left one, I cut a couple of petal pieces out of Primitive Cream CS that I stamped the Christmas Background with Antique Linen Distress Ink. I distressed the edges of the petals with Tea Dye Distress Ink and added some Champagne Stickles to the center. After I assembled the poinsettia, I added Fresh Snowfall Glitter Accents for a frosty effect.

For the right one, I die cut the petals out of Wild Cherry CS and inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. It adds a more dimensional look to the flower.
The links to the other products used are below at the bottom of this blog post.

I made a short video showing how I shaped a poinsettia. Actually, I thought that I should have done valley folds on the petals for more realistic look after seeing all the fabulous creations by the DT. But I decided to share this anyway because I think this technique works for any other die cut flowers. (Click HERE to watch the video on YouTube.)

Love You Furever - MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge 406

October 10, 2018

Hello! Today I popped in to share a card with you that I made for this week's MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge (MFT WSC406).

I twisted the original sketch a little - turned the rectangle elements into circles.

I used the Circle Trio Shaker Window & Frame Die-namics to make the openings. The little scenes behind the kitties were made by stenciling and ink blending, using the Grassy Edges Stencil. I also added the flowers from the Love You Furever stamp set.
The kitties were stamped on X-Press It Blending Card with Hot Fudge Hybrid Ink, colored with Copics, and cut out with the matching dies. I put them into each cell after adhering the top panel with foam tape.
The sentiment was heat embossed on Coral Crush panel cut with a strip die from the Hearts in a Row - Vertical Die-namics.

The Filled with Joy Die-namics was part of last month's card kit. So some of you may have it already. In case you missed it and need more inspiration, here are the links to my blog posts for the Card Kit Countdown.

I'm so in love with the snowman die included in the Filled with Joy Die-namics. It's adorable!! I used the ornament die for his body this time.

I did two-tone stamping for the greeting using Limelight and Summer Splash Premium Dye Inks. The patterned papers are from the new Candy Land Paper Pack, and the snowflakes were cut out of Silver Sparke CS.

Cool Christmas Slider Card - MFT October Countdown Day 2

October 7, 2018

Welcome to Day 2 of the MFT October Release Countdown. Today I have a slider card to share with you that features the new Cool Christmas stamp set & Die-namics.

I started my card by making a winter scene on Smooth White CS. I stenciled the hills using the Drifts & Hills Stencil and Kraft Premium Dye Ink and blended Berrylicious and Blueberry inks for the sky. Once it dried, I stamped the Snowfall Background over it using Champagne Ink. (It seems that I've got hooked on this ink. LOL!) I cut it with the largest die from the A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 1 Die-namics.

I made a slider mechanism on the lower part of the panel using the Surf & Turf Die-namics and two Slider Elements. I attached a small piece of acetate to the front side of the slider elements at this point. I adhered the panel to the card base with foam tape, then covered the slider channel with a Gravel Gray panel that I cut with the Stitched Snow Drifts Die-namics and heat embossed a sentiment. The car image was attached to the acetate piece to complete the slider.

I couldn't help putting a tree on top of the car. The snowmen will make a gorgeous Christmas tree. :)

Here you can see how the car moves when the tab is pulled.

We're so close to the release day! All the new products will be available for purchase on October 9 at 10:00 am EDT.

Perfect Poinsettia - MFT October Release Countdown Day 3

October 6, 2018

Welcome to Day 3 of the MFT October Release Countdown! Today I'm showcasing the Perfect Poinsettia Die-namics

I went out of my usual style and ended up with a card that has a somewhat vintage feel.

First I decided to make a white poinsettia since I thought it would look beautiful. I die cut the petals twice from Whip Cream CS and once from Gold Sparkle CS using the smaller die. I curved the petals lightly using my Teflon Flower Petal Shaper, then inked around the edges with Antique Linen Distress Ink and Champagne ink using sponge daubers. I layered them and added the center element and three Clear Droplets.

As I thought my poinsettia would match well with a rustic or shabby background, I decided to try making my own woodgrain paper. I stamped Kraft CS with Whimsical Woodgrain Background using Versa Mark ink and heat embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder. Then I scored several lines from the back. I rubbed Antique Linen, Rusty Hinge, and Aged Mahogany Distress Ink cubes directly, sprayed some water over it to blend, and dried it with a heat gun. I repeated this process a few times until I was happy with the result. After it dried completely, I spattered it with some white ink.
I adhered the woodgrain panel to the card base adding a panel of Gold Sparkle and attached the poinsettia to the center. I added the "J" and "Y" cut with the Filled with Joy Die-namics beside the poinsettia to spell "JOY."

We're halfway to the release day! All the new products will be available for purchase on October 9 at 10:00 am EDT.

Introducing Secret Santa Stamp Set - MFT October Release Countdown Day 4

October 5, 2018

Welcome to Day 4 of the MFT October Release Countdown! Today I'm introducing my new stamp set, Secret Santa.

Here is a photo of the set, that I colored all the images with my Copic Markers. You can see some of the coordinated dies, too.

[Edit: The photo was removed. Sorry!]

Do you believe in the magic of Christmas? The little girl and boy surely believe it, and the magic is happening. Santa has already come to their house bringing a lot of presents! I hope this stamp set brings back some precious memories in childhood to you. :)

I will use the colored images shown above later. Here you can see them in different colors.

To create this card, I die cut a panel of Primitive Cream CS using the A2 Rectangle STAX Set 1 Die-namics, stamped it with the Wood Plank Background using Grout Gray Premium Dye Ink (Sorry, it is so hard to see in the photo.), and made a window using the Classic Window Die-namics. I made a snowy night scene on a small piece of Smooth White CS and adhered it to the window from the back along with a piece of acetate.

Those little trees in the scene are from the new Trio of Trees stamp set that will be revealed tomorrow.
I cut Milk Chocolate CS with the Stitched Basic Edges Die-namics and stamped it with Itsy Bitsy Polka Dots Background using Champagne pigment ink to create a carpet. I heat embossed the sentiment on a strip of Milk Chocolate CS and adhered it to the panel with foam tape.
The images were stamped onto X-Press It Blending Card with Milk Chocolate Hybrid Ink, colored with Copic Markers, and cut out with the matching dies.

I covered the ornaments on the tree with Glossy Accents.

All the new products will be available for purchase on October 9 at 10:00 am EDT.

Happy Howlidays! - MFT October Release Countdown Day 5

October 4, 2018

The MFT October Release Countdown has begun! This month we have lots and lots of gorgeous holiday-themed products to share with you!! Make sure you stop by the MFT blog every day for the next five days to see the full reveal of the new products and for more inspiration from the DT.

I'm kicking off my countdown with a card that features the Deck the Howls stamp set & Die-namics.

I used all of the dog images in the set, as they all are too adorable to resist! I especially LOVE the dog wearing an antlers headband. So funny! :D

I made my collage frame with Kraft CS using the Stitched Collage Frame Die-namics. I stamped a piece of Smooth White CS with the new Christmas Background Stamp using Kraft Premium Dye Ink, cut it with the frame die, and inlaid the inside pieces to each cell. I stamped the images onto X-Press It Blending Card with Milk Chocolate Hybrid Ink, colored them with Copics, and cut out with the matching dies. The sentiment was heat embossed on Field Day CS and cut out with a strip die from the Hearts in a Row - Vertical Die-namics. I adhered it to the panel with thin foam squares.

I added some Glossy Accents to their noses, the ornaments, and the light bulbs after adhering the panel to the card base.

I also made a trio of easy Christmas tags to show you this month's freebie stamp set. It features a cute reindeer, a couple of snowflakes, and a Christmas greeting. You will receive it free with every order while supplies last.

All the new products will be available for purchase on October 9 at 10:00 am EDT.
