Have a Clawsome Day - MFT Hits & Highlights

July 31, 2018

It's time for a Hits & Highlights DT challenge over at the MFT blog. This month's theme is "Make a Splash" - we're challenged to create a project featuring SUMMER FUN!

I pulled inspiration for this card design from THIS graphic I stumbled upon on Pinterest. I loved the colors and the layout so much!
I made a card base from In the Buff CS and spattered some white and brown watercolor paints over the front. Then I added three small sand hills to ground the crabs using the Drifts & Hills Stencil and In the Buff Premium Dye Ink, you may hardly see in the photo above though.
I die cut two wavy panels, one is from Smooth White and another is from Blu Raspberry, using the Ocean Waves Die-namics and adhered to the card base. After I heat embossed the sentiment, I added some white dots around the top edge of the Blu Raspberry panel with a gel pen

I stamped, colored, and die cut the crabs from the Just Beclaws stamp set and attached them to the card with foam tape.

Watercolor Wavy Background - MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge 395

July 25, 2018

Hello! Today I'm sharing a summery card that I made for the MFT Sketch Challenge #395.
Here is the original sketch.

It's been terribly hot for over two weeks here in Japan... So I wanted to play with cool colors.

First I heat embossed the Wavy Coloring Book Background on watercolor paper and loosely colored in watercolors using the wet-in-wet technique. Once it dried, I cut it with the largest die from the A2 Rectangle STAX Set 2 Die-namics and adhered to the card base.

I die cut two circles from cork sheet and vellum using the Stitched Circle STAX Die-namics. I also die cut the "Hugs" three times, two from Limelight CS and one from Smooth White CS, and layered, slightly offsetting for a shadow effect. I glued the layered "Hugs" to the vellum panel, then adhered it to the cork panel. I heat embossed the words "Hugs & Kisses", which is from the Lot of Hugs stamp set, on Tropical Teal CS and cut it out with a banner die from the Hearts in a Row - Horizontal Die-namics. Several Clear Round Drops were added to finish off the card.

Throw Confetti! - MFT Birthday Project Challenge

July 19, 2018

Today I'm sharing a card with you that I made for this month's MFT Birthday Project Challenge

This month's theme is to add confetti to our projects. So I sprinkled colorful die-cut confetti around the balloons.
First I die cut a Smooth White panel using the A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 1 Die-namics and stenciled the Radiating Rays using Sno Cone Premium Dye Ink. Then I die cut the balloons with the solid balloon dies in the Balloon Alphabet Die-namics, put them together, and adhered to the stenciled panel with foam tape. I drew the strings with a black gel pen and added a twine bow. I stamped a sentiment from the Big Birthday Wishes stamp set with Black Licorice Premium Dye Ink and cut it out with a die from the Stitched Fishtail Sentiment Strips Die-namics.

I used the Balloon Shaker Window & Frame and the Tag Builder Blueprints 6 Die-namics to cut out my confetti. Have I mentioned that I LOOOOOVE the curled ribbon confetti die in the Balloon Shaker Window & Frame Die-namics? It's really cute and fun! I glued them to the panel and added tiny twinkling dots here and there with Champagne Stickles

You're in the Spotlight - MFT & Friends July 2018

July 17, 2018

It's time for the MFT and Friends feature on the MFT blog. Today MFT design team and some fabulous guests are sharing more projects featuring the most recent release.

I chose the Happy Birthday Block Die-namics and the Greatest Show stamp set & Die-namics for my card today.

I was totally inspired by a sentiment in The Greatest Show stamp set for my card design. To create my background scene, I cut Blueberry CS with the A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 1 Die-namics, masked off both sides of the panel, and daubed some Sweet Tooth Pigment Ink using a sponge dauber. Then I spattered yellow, teal, and white watercolor paints to add some festive feel to the scene. Once it dried, I masked the part of the spotlight and daubed After Midnight Premium Dye Ink to the upper half of the panel using a Mini Ink Blending Tool.

As I wanted to add more texture and interest to the background, I added the big and bold "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" with the camouflage technique. I stamped the images with Milk Chocolate Hybrid Ink and colored with Copic Markers. I cut them out with the matching dies and adhered to the panel.
The sentiment was heat embossed on Electric Red CS and was cut out with a banner die from the Hearts in a Row - Horizontal Die-namics. I attached it to the background panel with foam tape, adding a Pineapple panel cut with the Stitched Fishtail Sentiment Strips Die-namics.

3 Ways to Add Texture to Bold Sentiment Stamps - MFT Techniques & Tutorials

July 14, 2018

It's time for a Techniques & Tutorials feature on the MFT blog.

Today I'm showing three ways to add some texture to bold sentiment stamps using the new Happy Birthday to You stamp set. I kept the designs of my sample cards simple since I wanted to focus on the stamping techniques.

Here is a video showing the techniques. Click HERE if you prefer seeing it on YouTube.

1. Ombre Stamping

My first card uses the Ombre Stamping technique. First I stamped the sentiment with Blu Raspberry Premium Dye Ink, then added Tropical Teal ink only to the bottom portion of the letters.

2. Shadow Stamping

For my second card, I used the Shadow Stamping technique. I stamped the sentiment in Pineapple, then stamped it again in Poppy, slightly offsetting. I like that this technique adds some dimensional looks while I can keep my card flat and mailable.

3. Stamp Kissing

My third card uses the Stamp Kissing technique. It's a great way to add patterns to solid stamps. Honestly, it is a little difficult to stamp a pattern precisely with this technique. As you see in the photo below, my striped pattern is not perfect. But, this still is a fun technique to try to stretch your stamps.

Yee-Haw! MFT July New Product Launch!

July 11, 2018

Yee- Haw! MFT July Release is live now!!

I'd like to share another card that I made using the new Saddle Up & Celebrate stamp set and Die-namics for more inspiration for you.

To create my focal panel, I cut Primitive Cream CS with a die from the A2 Rectangle STAX Set 2 Die-namics and made a background scene using the masking and inking technique. The Drifts & Hills stencil was used for the ground. After I distressed the edges with a paper distresser and Vintage Photo Distress Ink, I stamped a sentiment from the Saddle Up & Celebrate stamp set, added a fence cut with the Animal Farm Fence Die-namics, and adhered the girl and the wheel.

I cut a Latte panel with the A2 Rectangle STAX Set 2 Die-namics and stamped it with the Wood Plank Background using Latte Premium Dye Ink. I matted it with a Milk Chocolate panel cut with the A2 Rectangle STAX Set 1 Die-namics, wrapped some hemp code, and adhered to the Primitive Cream card base. I adhered my focal panel at an angle adding a Cranberry Cocktail panel. A hemp bow was added to finish off the card.

Shaker Card with Colored Acetate - MFT July Release Countdown Day 1

July 10, 2018

It's final day of the MFT July Release Countdown. All the new products that we've been showcasing this past five days will be available for purchase tomorrow at 9:00 pm EDT!

I have a fun shaker card to share with you today.

The new Happy Birthday Balloon Trio Die-namics is great to make a quick birthday card since it cuts three balloons and a greeting at once with the perfect arrangement!
I started my card with die cutting a Smooth White panel using the A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 1 Die-namics then cut out the balloons and the greeting.

I applied colored acetate sheets to the back of the balloons. They add colors to the balloons and you still see the pattern on the background panel. :) I applied double sided foam tape around the back of the balloons and to the back of the strings and the greeting. I cut off the strings from the cut-out pieces, colored them with a Copic Marker, and inlaid to the panel. I also cut the "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" from Brush Gold CS and inlaid. After putting in some shaker elements (Candy Sprinkles and Sparkling Clear Sequins), I covered the back of the panel with a piece of clear acetate

I cut and adhered striped patterned paper to the card front, and attached the shaker panel with double-sided tape. I made the tiny bows from bakers twine and added to the balloons to finish off the card.

Watercolored Safari Friends - MFT July Release Countdown Day 2

July 9, 2018

It's Day 2 of the MFT July Release Countdown. Today I'm sharing a card that features the Safari Friends stamp set & Die-namics, the I Heart Celebrating stamp set, and the Heart Balloons Die-namics

I had so much fun coloring these adorable animals (especially LOVE the lion!) from the Safari Friends stamp set with watercolors!! I stamped them on watercolor paper with Kraft Hybrid Ink, colored with watercolors, and cut out with the matching dies

I painted random watercolor washes with orange, pink, and yellow paints on another piece of watercolor paper, let it dry, then cut the heart balloons out of it with the Heart Balloons Die-namics.

I stamped the lower one-third part of a Primitive White card base with the Make Your Mark Background using Limelight Premium Dye Ink and rounded the bottom corners with a corner chomper. After I stamped a sentiment from the I Heart Celebrating stamp set with Milk Chocolate Premium Dye Ink, I assembled and adhered the animals and balloons drawing the strings with a brown gel pen.

Only two days until the release day! All the new products will be available for purchase on July 10 at 9:00 pm EDT.
