You're in the Spotlight - MFT & Friends July 2018

July 17, 2018

It's time for the MFT and Friends feature on the MFT blog. Today MFT design team and some fabulous guests are sharing more projects featuring the most recent release.

I chose the Happy Birthday Block Die-namics and the Greatest Show stamp set & Die-namics for my card today.

I was totally inspired by a sentiment in The Greatest Show stamp set for my card design. To create my background scene, I cut Blueberry CS with the A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 1 Die-namics, masked off both sides of the panel, and daubed some Sweet Tooth Pigment Ink using a sponge dauber. Then I spattered yellow, teal, and white watercolor paints to add some festive feel to the scene. Once it dried, I masked the part of the spotlight and daubed After Midnight Premium Dye Ink to the upper half of the panel using a Mini Ink Blending Tool.

As I wanted to add more texture and interest to the background, I added the big and bold "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" with the camouflage technique. I stamped the images with Milk Chocolate Hybrid Ink and colored with Copic Markers. I cut them out with the matching dies and adhered to the panel.
The sentiment was heat embossed on Electric Red CS and was cut out with a banner die from the Hearts in a Row - Horizontal Die-namics. I attached it to the background panel with foam tape, adding a Pineapple panel cut with the Stitched Fishtail Sentiment Strips Die-namics.

3 Ways to Add Texture to Bold Sentiment Stamps - MFT Techniques & Tutorials

July 14, 2018

It's time for a Techniques & Tutorials feature on the MFT blog.

Today I'm showing three ways to add some texture to bold sentiment stamps using the new Happy Birthday to You stamp set. I kept the designs of my sample cards simple since I wanted to focus on the stamping techniques.

Here is a video showing the techniques. Click HERE if you prefer seeing it on YouTube.

1. Ombre Stamping

My first card uses the Ombre Stamping technique. First I stamped the sentiment with Blu Raspberry Premium Dye Ink, then added Tropical Teal ink only to the bottom portion of the letters.

2. Shadow Stamping

For my second card, I used the Shadow Stamping technique. I stamped the sentiment in Pineapple, then stamped it again in Poppy, slightly offsetting. I like that this technique adds some dimensional looks while I can keep my card flat and mailable.

3. Stamp Kissing

My third card uses the Stamp Kissing technique. It's a great way to add patterns to solid stamps. Honestly, it is a little difficult to stamp a pattern precisely with this technique. As you see in the photo below, my striped pattern is not perfect. But, this still is a fun technique to try to stretch your stamps.

Yee-Haw! MFT July New Product Launch!

July 11, 2018

Yee- Haw! MFT July Release is live now!!

I'd like to share another card that I made using the new Saddle Up & Celebrate stamp set and Die-namics for more inspiration for you.

To create my focal panel, I cut Primitive Cream CS with a die from the A2 Rectangle STAX Set 2 Die-namics and made a background scene using the masking and inking technique. The Drifts & Hills stencil was used for the ground. After I distressed the edges with a paper distresser and Vintage Photo Distress Ink, I stamped a sentiment from the Saddle Up & Celebrate stamp set, added a fence cut with the Animal Farm Fence Die-namics, and adhered the girl and the wheel.

I cut a Latte panel with the A2 Rectangle STAX Set 2 Die-namics and stamped it with the Wood Plank Background using Latte Premium Dye Ink. I matted it with a Milk Chocolate panel cut with the A2 Rectangle STAX Set 1 Die-namics, wrapped some hemp code, and adhered to the Primitive Cream card base. I adhered my focal panel at an angle adding a Cranberry Cocktail panel. A hemp bow was added to finish off the card.

Shaker Card with Colored Acetate - MFT July Release Countdown Day 1

July 10, 2018

It's final day of the MFT July Release Countdown. All the new products that we've been showcasing this past five days will be available for purchase tomorrow at 9:00 pm EDT!

I have a fun shaker card to share with you today.

The new Happy Birthday Balloon Trio Die-namics is great to make a quick birthday card since it cuts three balloons and a greeting at once with the perfect arrangement!
I started my card with die cutting a Smooth White panel using the A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 1 Die-namics then cut out the balloons and the greeting.

I applied colored acetate sheets to the back of the balloons. They add colors to the balloons and you still see the pattern on the background panel. :) I applied double sided foam tape around the back of the balloons and to the back of the strings and the greeting. I cut off the strings from the cut-out pieces, colored them with a Copic Marker, and inlaid to the panel. I also cut the "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" from Brush Gold CS and inlaid. After putting in some shaker elements (Candy Sprinkles and Sparkling Clear Sequins), I covered the back of the panel with a piece of clear acetate

I cut and adhered striped patterned paper to the card front, and attached the shaker panel with double-sided tape. I made the tiny bows from bakers twine and added to the balloons to finish off the card.

Watercolored Safari Friends - MFT July Release Countdown Day 2

July 9, 2018

It's Day 2 of the MFT July Release Countdown. Today I'm sharing a card that features the Safari Friends stamp set & Die-namics, the I Heart Celebrating stamp set, and the Heart Balloons Die-namics

I had so much fun coloring these adorable animals (especially LOVE the lion!) from the Safari Friends stamp set with watercolors!! I stamped them on watercolor paper with Kraft Hybrid Ink, colored with watercolors, and cut out with the matching dies

I painted random watercolor washes with orange, pink, and yellow paints on another piece of watercolor paper, let it dry, then cut the heart balloons out of it with the Heart Balloons Die-namics.

I stamped the lower one-third part of a Primitive White card base with the Make Your Mark Background using Limelight Premium Dye Ink and rounded the bottom corners with a corner chomper. After I stamped a sentiment from the I Heart Celebrating stamp set with Milk Chocolate Premium Dye Ink, I assembled and adhered the animals and balloons drawing the strings with a brown gel pen.

Only two days until the release day! All the new products will be available for purchase on July 10 at 9:00 pm EDT.

Kindness is in the Air - MFT July Release Countdown Day 3

July 8, 2018

Welcome to Day 3 of the MFT July Release Countdown.
Today I'm showcasing the Love Buds stamp set and Love Bugs stamp set. These two sets work so well together to create cute scenes!

To create this card, I inked lower half of an In the Buff card base with In the Buff Premium Dye Ink, spattered it with white and dark brown watercolor paints, and let it dry. I cut a grassy hill panel out of Limelight CS with the Grassy Hills Die-namics and adhered to the card base with foam tape.

The sentiment is from the Love Bugs stamp set. I curved it when I stamped, so it looks like a trail of the bee.
The flowers are from the Love Buds stamp set and the clouds, bee, and ladybug are from the Love Bugs set. I stamped them with Chocolate Brown Hybrid Ink, colored with Copics and a white gel pen, and cut out with the matching dies. I added some glossy accents to the wings of the bee after adhering him to the card base.

All the new products will be available for purchase on July 10 at 9:00 pm EDT.

Introducing Saddle Up & Celebrate Stamp Set - MFT July Release Countdown Day 4

July 7, 2018

Welcome to Day 4 of the MFT July Release Countdown! Today I'm introducing the new stamp set & Die-namics from Birdie Brown line, Saddle Up & Celebrate.

Saddle Up & Celebrate Stamp Set

Saddle Up & Celebrate Die-namics

The Saddle Up & Celebrate stamp set features not a wild but cute cowboy and cowgirl. I included a cow print balloon and a layered cake topped with a ten-gallon hat as accessory images since it's MFT's birthday month. However, with the variety of sentiments, this stamp set can be used for so many occasions. :)

I made a masculine birthday card for today. To create this card, I made a background scene on Smooth White CS using the Drifts & Hills and the Cloud Stencils. Then I cut it with the largest die from the Single Stitch Line Rectangle Frames Die-namics and stamped the sentiment. I adhered both the frame and the inside piece to a Kraft card base, adding two more frames cut from Kraft CS under the inked frame.

All the images were stamped on X-Press It Blending Card with Chocolate Brown Hybrid Ink and were colored with Copics. (Hopefully, I will share a speed coloring video on these images next week.;)) I cut them out with the matching dies and adhered with foam tape. I hope the cactus boy won't break the balloon with his prickly arm... LOL!

All the new products will be available for purchase on July 10 at 9:00 pm EDT.

Mini Balloon Shaker Card - MFT July Release Countdown Day 5

July 6, 2018

The MFT July Release Countdown has begun. It's MFT's birthday month, so this month's release is packed with AMAZING birthday themed products!! Make sure you stop by the MFT blog every day for the next five days to see the full reveal of the new products and for more inspiration from the DT. You'll see a lot of fabulous ideas for birthday cards this week! ;)

My card for today features the Mini Balloon Shaker Window & Frame Die-namics and Mini Balloon Shaker Pouches. Who doesn't love shaker balloons?

As you see, I could place three shaker balloons on a standard A2 size card. I think this size allows you more flexibility in designing cards than the previously released Balloon Shaker Window & Frame.
To create my background panel, I cut Banana Split CS using the A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 1 Die-namics, stenciled the rays using the Sunrise Radiating Rays Stencil and Banana Split Premium Dye Ink, and spattered some orange watercolor paint.

The sentiment is from the new Sassy Pants Birthday Greetings stamp set. This sentiments stamp set is one of the new My Favorite Things Signature Line products. It means that this stamp set will only be available at the MFT store. Check out the MFT blog for more information about the MFT Signature Line.

I used Queen & Co. Pop Ⅲ Topping Set and Sparkling Clear Stars sequins for my shaker filler. The balloon strings were drawn with a brown gel pen.

All the new products will be available for purchase on July 10 at 9:00 pm EDT.
