Ideas for Perfect Poinsettia - MFT Tips & Tricks

October 11, 2018

It's time for a Tips & Tricks feature over at the MFT blog. Today I'd like to share a few ideas for using the Perfect Poinsettia Die-namics

I know that red poinsettia is the most popular in the winter holiday season. But I like white poinsettias and pink poinsettias, too. While red ones are gorgeous and have a huge impact, white ones look elegant and pink ones are so pretty. Right?

Here I used patterned paper to get a casual look. I also added a little bow and a sequin to the center. These could be a cute accent on a gift wrapping for children.

For the left one, I cut a couple of petal pieces out of Primitive Cream CS that I stamped the Christmas Background with Antique Linen Distress Ink. I distressed the edges of the petals with Tea Dye Distress Ink and added some Champagne Stickles to the center. After I assembled the poinsettia, I added Fresh Snowfall Glitter Accents for a frosty effect.

For the right one, I die cut the petals out of Wild Cherry CS and inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. It adds a more dimensional look to the flower.
The links to the other products used are below at the bottom of this blog post.

I made a short video showing how I shaped a poinsettia. Actually, I thought that I should have done valley folds on the petals for more realistic look after seeing all the fabulous creations by the DT. But I decided to share this anyway because I think this technique works for any other die cut flowers. (Click HERE to watch the video on YouTube.)

Head on over to the MFT blog for more tips & tricks from the DT.

Thank you so much for stopping by today.

  4. Hello Torico. Love your gorgeous poinsettias. They look so much better than the flat ones - I love dimension and your idea of using the patterned paper with the plain looks gorgeous! I use white with silver or gold and the same with red and pink, but the patterned paper makes them look soooo cute. Thanks for sharing your idea with us. Now I need to get a petal shaper, much easier than my clumsy methods.
