Stacked Party Animals - MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge 413

November 28, 2018

Hi! Today I'm going to share a birthday card that I made for this week's MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge. (WSC413).

I interpreted the sketch freely a little. I flipped the sketch and stacked the farm animals from the Party Animals stamp set instead of the five square elements in the sketch.

I stamped the images on Neenah Solar White CS with Milk Chocolate Hybrid Ink. I colored them with Copic Markers and cut out with scissors. I made a Smooth White card base, masked and stamped the Snowfall Background with Lemon Drop Premium Dye Ink, and stamped the sentiment with Hot Fudge Premium Dye Ink. I adhered the images with foam tape and added several clear star sequins around the animals.

Cool Christmas - MFT Hits & Highlights

November 27, 2018

Hello! It's time for a Hits & Highlights DT Challenge on the MFT blog. This month we're challenged to create a Christmas card/project featuring blues and purples.

I pulled out the Santa's Elves stamp set & Die-namics for the first time in a while! It's always fun to revisit an old set - I realized that my dies were solid (I mean they're not open inside.) after I stamped and colored the elf. How many years ago was it MFT changed their dies into open style? (I believe the Santa's Elves Die-namics that are available now are open inside.)

To create my background, I heat embossed the snowflakes with white embossing powder and blended Shaded Lilac and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks over them.

I stamped the tree, which is from the Oh Christmas Trees stamp set, with Grapesicle and Grape Jelly Premium Dye Inks to get an ombre look. I embellished it with Nuvo Purple Rain Glitter Drops and added a little bow and a sequin on top. The elf was stamped onto Neenah Solar White CS with Milk Chocolate Hybrid Ink and was colored with Copic Markers.
The sentiment is from the Snow Globe Sentiments stamp set. I heat embossed it onto Boysenberry CS and cut out with a strip die from the Hearts in a Row - Vertical Die-namics.

MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge 412

November 21, 2018

Hello! Today I'm quickly popped in to share a card I made for this week's MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge. (WSC 412) I'll make this post quite short as I've been working hard on a "new" thing behind the scene.

As you see, I rotated the sketch 90 degrees and changed the rectangle elements in the sketch into three trees and an owl to make a wintery scene.
To create my background, I did masking and ink blending using Shaded Lilac and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks and stenciled the Snowfall with the same inks.

The owl was colored with Copic Markers and colored pencils. The ink colors used to stamp the trees are listed below.
I used a sentiment from the Tweet Holidays stamp set since I wanted to make my sentiment panel narrow to follow the sketch.

3 Ideas for Snowflake Window Die-namics - MFT November Tips & Tricks

It's time for the November Tips & Tricks feature on the MFT blog. Today I'm going to share three cards using the beautiful Snowflake Window Die-namics.

1. Decorative Border

For my first card, I made a decorative border by cutting the Snowflake Window twice contiguously.

First I cut Smooth White CS to 4-1/4" x 5-1/2", marked the center on the long side, and placed the die as shown in the photo below.

Then I shifted the die as shown below and did die-cutting again.

I made a side-folding card and blended some Wilted Violet and Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide Inks on the front. I adhered the die-cut panel, added a sentiment from the Snow Globe Sentiments stamp set, and embellished the snowflakes with purple jewels.

2. Gate Fold Latch Card

My second card is a gate fold latch card.
I cut Smooth White CS to 1-1/4" x 11" and folded at 2-3/4" and 8-1/4" on the long side. Then I die cut out the Snowflake Window from both flaps. I applied a piece of vellum to the back of each window.

I made a latch using the Rectangle Word Window Frames Die-namics. I layered three frames for a secure closure. The sentiment is from the Tweet Holidays stamp set.

For the inside, I cut a panel of Berrylicious CS using the largest die from the A2 Rectangle STAX Set 1 Die-namics and inked the top portion with Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide Ink to get an ombre background. I added some pool jewels to the snowflakes to finish off the card.

3. Easel Card

My third card is an easel card.
To create this card, I made a top-folding card from Smooth White CS and scored a line at 2-3/4" from the top of the card front. I placed the die to the center and ran it through my die-cut machine.

Then I placed the rectangle die that included in the Snowflake Window Die-namics as shown below and cut only the upper half using the partial die-cutting technique.

For the inside, I blended Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide Inks on a Smooth White panel cut with the A2 Rectangle STAX Set 1 Die-namics. I kept a little white space on the bottom portion of the panel, so I can write a message there and it won't be seen when the card is closed.
I heat embossed a sentiment from the Snow Special stamp set on Black Licorice CS and cut it out with a strip die from the Hearts in a Row - Horizontal Die-namics. I adhered it to the inside panel with thin foam squares, so it works as a stopper.

I also added a sentiment strip to the window and embellished with several blue sequins.

Peek-a-Boo Wheel Birthday Card - MFT Birthday Project Challenge

November 15, 2018

It's time for a Birthday Project Challenge over at the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog. This month's theme is to add animals to our birthday cards/projects.

I played with the wild animals from the Safari Friends stamp set and added more fun with an interactive element using the newly released Peek-a-Boo Wheel Die-namics.

Look at the balloon that the little blue bird holds in its beak. When the wheel is turned, the color of the balloon changes and little words appear one after the other.

To create my card, I cut a panel of Smooth White CS using the largest die from the A2 Rectangle STAX Set 2 Die-namics and stenciled the Star Celebration using Lemon Drop, Limelight, Summer Splash, and Cotton Candy Premium Dye Inks. I cut a notch on the bottom edge with a die included in the Peek-a-Boo Wheel Die-namics and made a balloon shaped opening using the Bundle of Balloons Die-namics. I had a plan to use a speech bubble die from the Peek-a-Boo Wheel Die-namics when I started my card. But I changed the plan at the last minute as I thought that a balloon would match well with the birthday theme.

I made my wheel mechanism following a video tutorial by Karolyn. The words I stamped on the balloons are from the More Essential Sentiments stamp set.
After I attached my main panel to a card base adding a panel of grid patterned paper, I adhered the animal images and drew the string of the balloon with a dark brown pen. I added the "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" cut with the Block Happy Birthday Die-namics to finish off the card.

Ho Ho How Have You Been? - MFT November Release Countdown Day 1

November 13, 2018

It's the final day of the MFT November Release Countdown. All the new products we have been showcasing this past five days will be available for purchase tomorrow at 10:00 am EST!!

For today I made an inside pop-up card using the Here Comes Santa Claus stamp set & Die-namics and the Mountain High Die-namics.

I cut a peek-a-boo window out of the card front using the Starry Circle Die-namics, so the Santa image which is part of the inside scene is visible. I embellished the window with the snowflakes cut with the Let It Snowflake Too and the Layered Snowflakes Die-namics.

To create my inside scene, I blended Salty Ocean, Blueprint Sketch, and Chipped Sapphire Distress Inks on watercolor paper and spritzed it with water. Once inks dried completely, I spattered some white paint over it. I die cut the mountains from Smooth White CS and the trees from Sour Apple and Field Day CS. I put them together to create a scene on the bottom portion of the panel.

The Santa image was stamped with Milk Chocolate Hybrid Ink and colored with Copic Markers. I traced the swirls on the sleigh with a sparkling gold gel pen and added some spots with Champagne Stickles. I attached him to the inside panel with foam tape.

Make sure you visit the MFT blog to see all the products revealed today and for more inspiration from the DT. Again, the November Release will be live tomorrow at 10:00 am EST.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!
