To an Extraordinary Mom - MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #430

March 27, 2019

Hello, everyone! It's time for a new sketch challenge over at the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog. (WSC 430)

I replaced the heart elements in the sketch with a die-cut word, "MOM."

To create my card, I stamped the Bundles of Blossoms Background onto Smooth White CS with Versa Mark Ink, then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I blended Seedless Preserves and Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide Inks over it and lightly wiped off the excess of the inks. I cut it with the largest die from the A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 2 Die-namics after the inks dried and adhered it to a card base.

I cut strips of Grape Jelly and Tickled Pink CS, and adhered them to the panel. I die cut the "MOM" four times from Smooth White CS and inked one of them with Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide Ink for an ombre look. I stacked them up and adhered to the panel. I heat embossed a sentiment from the All About Mom stamp set on a piece of Milk Chocolate CS with white embossing powder. It was added to the panel with thin foam squares. Some Pink Blush Jewels were added to finish off the card.

Making an Interactive Card with Swing Mechanism - MFT Tips & Tricks

March 19, 2019

Hi everyone! Today I'm going to share a new way of using the Interactive Swing Die-namics. You can see the basic ideas for this Die-namics in THIS video where Stephanie creates three interactive swinging cards.

First I'd like to share a card I made for today.

As you see in the animated GIF above, the dog jumps over a hurdle. I've already shared a similar interactive card HERE, which I made using a simple slider mechanism. By using the Interactive Swing Die-namics, you don't need to cut out a slider channel from your background panel. So your background scene will look more natural and continuous.

Let's see how I made this card. The MFT products used are listed at the bottom of this blog post.

1. Prepare the elements in the photo below.

  1. Die cut a pendulum out of acetate.
  2. Stamp, color, and die cut a dog image. Die cut one more dog piece from white CS. You don't need to stamp a dog on it.
  3. Stamp, color, and die cut a hurdle.
  4. Die cut a small circle from white CS. (The die is included in the Interactive Swing Die-namics.)
  5. Spin & Slide Disc
2. Create a background panel and a hill panel.

Cut a stitched rectangle panel from white CS and stencil clouds with aqua ink. Die cut a hill panel from yellow-green CS.

3. Make a swing mechanism.

Attach a Spin & Slide Disc with a strong adhesive (I used 1/8" Scor-Tape.) and put the pendulum piece as shown in the photo above.

Adhere the small circle piece on top of the disc.

4. Add stoppers.

Place the dog and the hurdle temporarily to decide the swing width, and add small pieces of foam tape, which will work as stoppers. (I used black foam tape here to make it easy to see for you. Of course, you can use white tape.)

5. Add the hill panel.

Adhere the hill panel with two layers of foam tape. Make sure those foam tapes don't touch the pendulum. I recommend applying some antistatic powder to the side of the stoppers for a smooth movement.

6. Attach the dog to the pendulum.

Adhere the hurdle to the hill panel. Attach the "blank" dog piece to the pendulum from the back, then cut off the excess of the pendulum.

Adhere the colored dog with foam tape sandwiching the pendulum. Your swinging piece (I mean the dog here.) needs some weight for a quick and smooth movement. That's a reason I add the blank piece and foam tape.

7. Finish the card.
Adhere the panel to a card base, add a sentiment panel and embellishments as you desire. I decided to add some banners for a celebratory look.

I hope you like my idea and give it a try! I know you prefer seeing this kind of tutorials on videos. But, I'm sorry that I just don't have enough time to edit videos for now. :( Leave a comment below if you have any questions.

Stitched with Love - Unicorn

March 14, 2019

Hello! This week, MFT has been introducing some new cross-stitch patterns on their blog, and today we're featuring the patterns for the Cross-Stitch Rectangle Die-namics. I made a card using one of those patterns, Unicorn. Who doesn't love unicorns??

I admit that it took me a long time to finish up the stitching. But it was a kind of good therapy for me as my life has been hectic recently. I just needed to follow the pattern without much thinking. I didn't feel tired even after stitching for hours. :)
The sentiment is from the Rainbows and Unicorns stamp set, which is a perfect match for the pattern. I stamped it in Gravel Gray and cut out with the Essential Fishtail Sentiment Strips Die-namics.

Visit the MFT blog to see all the fun new patterns. You can get them in printable PDFs.

I made my background scene using the Cloud Stencil and Grassy Edges Stencil and cut it out with the A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 1 Die-namics. After making a slider mechanism using the Leaping Slider Channels Die-namics and a slider element, I adhered the panel to the card with foam tape.
I stamped, colored, and cut out the images and added them to the scene. The sentiment was heat embossed on Kraft CS and cut out with a die from the Blueprints 29 Die-namics.

Welcome to Day 2 of the MFT March Release Countdown! Only two more days until the release day, but we still have a lot to share with you. Make sure you visit the MFT blog to see all the products revealed today and for more inspiration from the DT.

For my card today, I paired the Rainy Circle Die-namics with the Just Ducky stamp set & Die-namics.
I cut a panel of Smooth White CS with the third large die from the A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 1 Die-namics, then cut out the raindrops with the Rainy Circle Die-namics. I applied a piece of Lavender Fields CS to the back of the panel to add color.
I stamped, colored, and cut out the duck and clouds, and adhered them to the panel. The sentiment is from the Aim for the Clouds stamp set. It was heat embossed on Kraft CS and cut out with a fishtail banner die from the Hearts in a Row - Horizontal Die-namics.

I cut polka dots patterned paper using the Stitched Scallop Edges Die-namics and adhered to the card base. I adhered my focal panel with foam tape and added three clear droplets to finish off the card.

Best in Show - MFT March Release Countdown Day 4

March 9, 2019

Welcome to Day 4 of the MFT March Release Countdown!
Today I'm showcasing the new stamp set from my Birdie Brown line, Best in Show and the Ray of Light Stencil.

The Best in Show stamp set features dog agility, and it includes three dogs and a few types of obstacles. Make a fun obstacle course and let the dogs show their superb skills!

To create my card, I blended Scattered Straw, Twisted Citron, and Salty Ocean Distress Inks on watercolor paper, then overlaid the Ray of Light using the same inks. I spritzed it with some water, let it dry, and cut with the largest die from the A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 1 Die-namics.

I made my obstacle course with the poles and steps and added two dogs. All the images were stamped on Neenah Solar White CS with Milk Chocolate Hybrid Ink, colored with Copics, and cut out with the matching dies.

All the new products will be available for purchase on March 12 at 10:00 am EDT.

The MFT March Release Countdown has begun! We're going to share a lot of gorgeous new products with you for the next five days. Make sure you stop by the MFT blog every day to see the full reveal of the new products and for more inspiration from the DT.

Today I'm sharing a shaker card that features the Sweet Friends stamp set & Die-namics

The Sweet Friends stamp set is adorable and it is perfect for creating a spring scene!
I made my background on Smooth White CS using the Drifts & Hills Stencil, Sour Apple and Lemon Chiffon Premium Dye Inks. I cut it out with the second large die from the new A2 Rectangle Frames Die-namics, which will be revealed on the MFT blog a few days later, to make a shaker frame. I popped up the frame with foam sheet and put in some sequins for my shaker element. The tree-crown is part of the new Interactive Swing Die-namics. (Visit the MFT blog for the details of the Interactive Swing Die-namics.)

I had so much fun doing no-line coloring on these cute characters. I stamped them on Neenah Solar White CS with Natural Hybrid Ink and colored with Copics and colored pencils.
