Watermelon Background with Stencil - MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge 436

May 9, 2019

Hi everyone! Today I'm going to share a sweet card that I made for this week's MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge. (WSC 436)

I just thought of making a background that looks like a watermelon slice using the Mini Staggered Raindrops Stencil, and it would match well with the new sweet PI girl.
I cut a panel of Smooth White CS and inked it with Candied Apple Distress Ink using a make-up brush to make an ombre look. Once the ink dried, I stenciled the raindrops over it using Ground Espresso Distress Ink. (I tried a black ink, but it looked too contrasty for me.) For the bottom part of the panel, I applied Mowed Lawn Distress Ink, heat set it, and white embossed a sentiment from the Sweet Sentiments stamp set.
I stamped the front of a Smooth White card base with the Itsy Bitsy Polka Dots Background using Grout Gray Premium Dye Ink (It may be hardly seen in the photos.), then adhered the inked panel adding a strip of Milk Chocolate CS along the right edge.

I cut a stitched panel using a die from the Blueprints 33 Die-namics and added a die-cut "Sweet". It was attached to the inked panel with foam tape along with the little girl which I stamped on X-Press It Blending Card and colored with Copics. Several Round Drops were added to finish off the card.

Head on over to the MFT blog to see the challenge details and for more inspiration from the DT. I hope you'll play along with us this week!
