Magical Rainbow Slider Card - MFT Tips & Tricks

July 16, 2019

Hi everyone! It's time for a Tips & Tricks feature on the MFT blog.

I already shared an interactive card featuring the Magical Rainbow Die-namics during the countdown week, and it used an interactive wheel mechanism. Today I'm sharing another idea for using the Magical Rainbow Die-namics to make an interactive card.

I combined the Magical Rainbow Die-namics with a narwhale from the Friends with Fins stamp set to create a slider card. The narwhale makes a rainbow as he (she??) jumps up and dives into the ocean.

I used the Card-Sized Star Confetti Stencil Set for my background and the sentiment is from the Rainbow Greetings stamp set

Watch the video below to see how I made this card. Click HERE if you prefer to watch it on YouTube.

Drink Up the Sunshine - July 2019 MFT & Friends

July 9, 2019

It's time to shop! The MFT July Release is live now!!

Today all the DT members and several fabulous guest designers are sharing projects using some of the new products for more inspiration for you.
For my card today, I combined my new stamp sets, Drink Up the Sunshine and Sunshine & Friendship.

First I blended some Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers Distress Inks on the front of a Smooth White card base directly to create my water surface. I cut a panel using the Stitched Basic Edges 2 Die-namics and made a background scene on it using the Mini Cloud Edges Stencil and the Grassy Edges Die-namics. I adhered the panel to the inked card base, then added the little girl from the Drink Up the Sunshine stamp set and the orangutan from the Sunshine & Friendship stamp set with foam tape.

I embellished the girl's swimming ring with a couple of plumerias and added some ripples around her using a Copic Marker and a white gel pen.

I had the orangutan hold a beach ball and added a plumeria to his swimming ring, too. He needed to dress up for a birthday party. LOL.

I heat embossed a sentiment on Milk Chocolate CS, cut it with the Essential Slanted Sentiment Strips Die-namics, and adhered to the card base adding a Lemon Drop strip. I added two tropical birds to finish off the card.

Twist & Turn Mermaids - MFT July Release Countdown Day 1

July 8, 2019

It's the final day of the MFT July Release Countdown. The new products that we have been showcasing these past five days will be available for purchase tomorrow at 10 am EDT!!

Today I'm sharing an interactive card with you that features the cute Mermaid for Each Other Stamp Set & Die-namics.

I combined the Mermaid for Each Other stamp set with the Twist & Turn Die-namics. Those two mermaids turn and twist when the tab is pulled, as you see in the animated GIF below.

For the turn & twist mechanism, watch the fabulous tutorial video by Laura. Honestly, it looked kind of difficult to make when I saw this Die-namics for the first time. But, it is super easy and fun!

To create my background, I lightly blended Shaded Lilac and Peacock Feathers Distress Inks on watercolor paper, stamped it with the Mermaid Tail Background using Versa Mark Ink, and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Then I blended the same inks over it again and spritzed some water. I cut it with the largest die from the A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 2 Die-namics after the inks completely dried.
I used the Fishtail Flag Trio Die-namics to cut the sentiment panel.

Magical Rainbow Card - MFT July Release Countdown Day 2

July 7, 2019

Welcome to Day 2 of the MFT July Release Countdown. Today I have an interactive card to share with you that features the Magical Rainbow Die-namics along with the Rainbow Greetings Stamp Set.

First, let me show you how it moves. :) When the wheel is turned, a rainbow changes into a hearts rainbow!

The Magical Rainbow Die-namics contains a rainbow die and a die to cut an opening that is the same shape with the rainbow. I made an opening on a Lemon Chiffon panel cut with the A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 2 Die-namics and cut a notch using a die from the Peek-a-Boo Wheel Die-namics.
I made an interactive wheel mechanism using the Peek-a-Boo Wheel Die-namics and attached it to a card base along with the top panel. The rainbow was die cut out of Smooth White CS and I colored each piece with Copics. I also die cut seven hearts in rainbow colors using a die from the Tag Builder Blueprints 6 Die-namics. I adhered the rainbow and the hearts to the opening, stamped the "TURN" and arrow, then added the clouds cut with the new Cute Clouds Outlines Die-namics. I stamped a sentiment from the Rainbow Greetings Stamp Set, cut it out using the Skinny Strips Die-namics, and added to the panel.

If you'd like to know how to make a Peek-a-boo wheel mechanism, a fabulous tutorial by Karolyn is HERE.

Only two more days until the release day! All the new products will be available for purchase on July 9 at 10 am EDT.

Celebrate with Cake - MFT July Release Countdown Day 3

July 6, 2019

Welcome to Day 3 fo the MFT July Release Countdown. Today I'm sharing a summery birthday card that features the new Celebrate with Cake Die-namics.

I was inspired by a pineapple cake 🍍I saw on Pinterest. I die cut a cake out of watercolor paper and stenciled the Cascading Scallop using Squeezed Lemonade and Wild Honey Distress Inks. I decorated it with a die cut border and a couple of flowers from the Tropical Flowers Stamp Set

I die cut the "Celebrate", masked off the sticks, and inked with Tropical Teal Premium Dye Ink for an ombre look. I colored the sticks with a Copic Marker. I die cut another "Celebrate" and glued them together for stability.

I made my background by ink blending (Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers Distress Inks) and the Cloud Stencil. I also spattered some watercolor over the sky to add a more celebratory feel.

I added a Whip Cream panel cut with the Stitched Scallop Basic Edges Die-namics, stamped a sentiment from the Bitty Birthday Wishes Stamp Set, and assembled the cake. I covered the "Celebrate" with Glossy Accents to finish off the card.

All the new products will be available for purchase on July 9 at 10 am EDT.

Hooray!! - MFT July Release Countdown Day 4

July 5, 2019

Welcome to Day 4 of the MFT July Release Countdown. I have two birthday cards to share with you today.

I stenciled the star confetti on a Smooth White panel using Lemon Chiffon and Limelight Premium Dye Inks to create my background.
I die cut the word "HOORAY" with the Impact Alphabet Die-namics and the exclamation mark with the Impact Numbers Die-namics. I applied Versa Mark Ink only top portion of each letter, dipped them in Princess Gold Embossing Powder, then heat embossed. I die cut three more sets of letters out of Lemon Chiffon CS and layered under the heat embossed letters for thickness and a shadow effect.

I adhered them to the panel and added a thin sentiment panel to the center which I heat embossed a sentiment from the Bitty Birthday Wishes Stamp Set.

For my second card, I played with a bitty "HB2U" stamp from the Bitty Birthday Wishes Stamp Set to create a graphical design.

I made a partial circular design by stamping it eleven times in rainbow colors with the help of my MISTI and GinaK Wreath Builder Template (3-3/4"). I cut it with a die from the A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 2 Die-namics, added a die-cut "cheers" (which is this month's Free with $60 die), and stamped another sentiment in Cement Grey.
I added a Gold Sparkle panel under the focal panel and adhered them to a card base. Then I added a strip of pattern paper along the right edge of the focal panel.

All the new products will be available for purchase on July 9 at 10 am EDT.

Soak Up the Sun! - MFT July Release Countdown Day 5

July 4, 2019

Hi everyone! The MFT July Release Countdown has begun! It's MFT's birthday month. So we have a lot of fabulous birthday themed products, as well as a fun interactive Die-namics, more summer themed stamp sets & Die-namics, and a cute paper pack! Make sure you stop by the MFT blog every day for the next five days to see the full reveal of the new products and fabulous inspiration from the DT.

This month two stamp sets, along with the matching dies, are going to be released from my Birdie Brown line. Today I'm going to share a card with you that features one of those sets, Sunshine & Friendship.

The Sunshine & Friendship stamp set is a 4x8 set and it features several jungle animals wearing a swim ring. This set goes so well together with the new Swimming Pool Die-namics! :)

To create my card, I stamped a Smooth White panel with the Itsy Bitsy Polka Dots Background using Lemon Drop Premium Dye Ink, cut out a Swimming Pool, and colored the edge with a Copic Marker. I added some die-cut greenery along the top edge of the panel, stamped a sentiment, then adhered the panel to a card base with foam tape.

I inked the cut-out piece of the pool with Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean Distress Inks and embedded it to the opening. After adhering the tiger and the rhino with foam tape, I drew some ripples around them with a Copic Marker and a white gel pen. I adhered the rest of the images and added several round drops to finish off the card.

Another new stamp set from Birdie Brown line is called Drink Up the Sunshine. It's a 4x4 set and features a little girl on a swim ring. I will share a card using it on the release day, but for now, visit the MFT blog to see the set. ;)

Sending Some Love - MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge 444

Hello everyone! I'm finally back with a card that I made for this week's MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge. (WSC 444)

I turned the sketch upside down and used three pigs from the Hog Heaven stamp set for the circular elements.

To create my background sky, I stenciled the clouds with Tumbled Glass and Shaded Lilac Distress Inks. The tiny hearts were cut from Razzle Berry CS using the Tag Builder Blueprints 6 Die-namics.

For the horizontal rectangle panel, I cut Smooth White CS and added two zig-zag stitching lines along the top and bottom edges using the Basic Stitch Lines Die-namics. I die cut the "HUGS"  three times from Lavender Fields CS using the Stitched Alphabet Die-namics and layered them for thickness. I heat embossed a sentiment from the From the Heart stamp set on Razzle Berry CS and cut it out with a die from the Skinny Strips Die-namics.

Head on over to the MFT blog for the challenge details and for more inspiration from the DT. Hope you'll play along with us this week for your chance to win a $50 gift voucher as a prize!
